Baird Belts Bunch of Base Hits Saturday, September 9th, 2017 It seemed that Kingwood second baseman Tony Baird could do no wrong as the Knights kayoed the Warriors 8-5 today as he rapped out 5 hits in 6 at-bats. Winfield pitchers couldn't get him out as Baird seemed to know which pitches they were throwing. "I think the Knights were stealing signs," growled one unhappy Winfield fan. "I just felt good today. I saw the ball well and just wanted to make good contact and put the ball in play," said the jubilant Baird in the postgame press interview. Tony Baird singled in the 1st, grounded out in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, singled in the 8th and singled in the 10th. A look at his season totals shows Baird with 8 home runs, .278 BA, .332 OBP, 58 RBIs and 78 runs scored. |
