League Suspends Sting Winter 2 Games
Wednesday, July 26th, 2017
Shortly after yesterday's Sting-Hipsters game ended, Jim Winter's on-field tantrum seemed almost comical. In response to being ejected for questioning a called third strike, the Houston shortstop tossed his hat to the dirt and kicked it repeatedly. He couldn't help but laugh at himself and his over-the-top, hat-kicking, anger-laced tirade.
"It was funny," Winter said. "I was hoping I could kick it all the way to the dugout."
The umpiring crew, however, didn't find it funny and neither did the league. Though Winter said he did not think his actions warranted a suspension, he will miss 2 games.
So far this season, Winter has recorded a .220 batting average with 11 hits, 2 home runs, 6 RBIs, 10 runs scored and a .339 OBP.
