Big Day with Bat: Phillips 5-5
Wednesday, September 21st, 2016
After the Dearborn 13-1 victory over Houston and his 5-hit day left fielder Matt Phillips told BNN beat writers, "It really doesn't matter whether it's sandlot ball, high school or college ball, two hits in a game are very good... three or four hits even better... 5 or more are out of sight... and if it is in pro ball... it is really something special."

The 23-year-old player gained that distinction today at Woodland Park with a spectacular 5 for 5 game against the Houston Sting.

The skipper of the Pioneers spoke glowingly of Phillips, telling BNN writers, "His swing is getting there. We want him to be quick with his swing, short and compact. We want him to be patient and go the other way when he can. Matt did that to perfection today."

Matt Phillips singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit a two-run double in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th.

During the current season Phillips is batting at a .182 clip with 1 home run and 8 RBIs. He has played in 19 games and scored 6 times.
