Howard Shoemaker Drills 3 HR in One Game Tuesday, June 14th, 2016 Today was a special one for Howard Shoemaker of the Kingwood Knights as he slammed three home runs in the 24-9 win over the Winfield Warriors. "Lately, I been uppercutting the ball too much. I would hit it hard, but they just went sky high and stayed in the ballpark," he said to sportswriters after the game. "No big long outs for me in this game... I leveled out my swing and connected on the sweet spot three times. I knew they were gone the minute I hit 'em." The Kingwood second baseman had quite a game at Stable Park as he collected 3 hits in 3 at-bats, drove in 4 and scored 4 runs. Howard Shoemaker hit a solo-shot off José Bustamante in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Foster Koch in the 3rd, walked in the 4th, walked in the 5th and hit a two-run home run off Ramiro Palmeiro in the 7th. Looking at his stats this year, Shoemaker has compiled a .300 batting average, while hitting 3 home runs and driving in 4 runs. He has played in 6 games and scored 5 runs. |
