Whitecaps Ace Sakaguchi Cops Cy Young Award Monday, October 31st, 2016 The Cy Young Award for 2016 has been presented and the Alexander Cartwright League winner is Hideki Sakaguchi of Grand Haven. "It's always nice to receive an award like this," said Sakaguchi. "I just hope I can improve on my performance next year and be in the running again," the Whitecaps star told reporters. Sakaguchi excelled with an impressive 20-4 record in 33 starts. In 197 innings he yielded 163 hits and 108 walks, while striking out 175 and compiling a fine 3.65 ERA. |
