Calderón's 20-Game Hitting Streak Ends
Wednesday, September 14th, 2016
Late in the game Lights right fielder Carlos Calderón stepped into the batter box with his 20-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Calderón did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Beehive had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 3 at-bats. However, Phoenix won the game 4-3.
"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Calderón told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 20 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Calderón is currently batting .382 with 8 home runs, 80 RBIs and 104 runs scored. He has 155 hits in 406 at-bats.
