Woodward and Mifflen Brawl, League Suspends Them
Monday, July 25th, 2016
If there wasn't a history between Jim Woodward of San Antonio and Bryan Mifflen of Long Island, then there is one now. The incident between the two sparked a bench-clearing scrum with those two being the center of attention. Now they will miss 5 games as a result of their actions. The league office announced their suspensions today.
"We're both really competitive," Woodward said later, "and sometimes things go a little too far because of it."
Woodward is currently batting .258 with no home runs and 5 RBIs.
This year Mifflen has made 41 relief appearances, pitched 30 innings, and fashioned a 0-4 record with a 4.20 ERA. He has recorded 13 saves, struck out 35, and allowed opposing clubs to hit .258 when he is on the hill.
