Suspensions Handed Out for Bench-Clearing Brawl Tuesday, July 21st, 2015 Blackpool and Anniston team officials have been notified by the league office that the Gamblers José Carlos Mata and the Cougars Joe Wilkins will be suspended 8 games each for their altercation in yesterday's game at Bloomfield Road. They were the two main combatants in the bench-clearing brawl. For the season Mata is batting .247 with 85 hits and 10 home runs. He has scored 40 times and batted in 59. To date this year Wilkins has fashioned a 6.75 ERA over 4 innings with a 0-0 record. He has made 6 relief appearances with 6 strikeouts and no saves. |
