Silva on a Rampage, Hits for Cycle Wednesday, May 13th, 2015 The big buzz in the baseball world is about César Silva's performance today at Cowboys Stadium against Carson City. Silva had 4 hits en route to hitting for the cycle, leading the charge for the Rock River 10-4 triumph over the Mustang. A cycle requires each of the four types of hits possible -- single, double, triple and home run. A batter has to have power, speed, and a little luck to do it. "It was one of those games you dream about," Silva told the press. "I never expected to do something like this when I showed up at the park today. All you really want to do is hit it hard and put it into play. The hits will come." And the hits did come today. The 19-year-old first baseman rounded out his superb batting display with 4 hits in 5 at-bats, 6 runs batted in, and 2 runs scored. César Silva singled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, hit a three-run home run off Robert Hood in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a two-run triple in the 8th. For the year Silva has hit .284 with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and scored 16 runs. |
