Joplin's Matthews to Miss 4 Months
Saturday, July 28th, 2012
Baseball can be a contact sport at times. It can exact a harsh toll on a player's body. In a recent game against Bronx Bombers, Fireballs shortstop Chris Matthews was injured colliding with a player at a base and is expected to miss 4 months with a torn labrum. The team did not announce any roster moves today related to this injury. The Joplin skipper told BNN that personnel decisions would be announced as early as tomorrow.

In 85 games Matthews is hitting .178 this season with 54 hits, no home runs, 12 RBIs, 44 walks, .288 OBP and has scored 27 runs.
