Bad News for Reno, Alvarado Injured
Friday, September 29th, 2017
Valentín Alvarado at first refused to leave today's Joplin-Reno game after he suffered a broken bone in the elbow while colliding with a player at a base. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Reno second baseman said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Alvarado out of action for 5 months.

This year Alvarado has collected a .212 batting average to date with 96 hits in 452 at-bats, 46 RBIs, 18 home runs and scored 71 times. He has played in 119 games.
