Smith Earns July's Best Pitcher Honor Tuesday, August 1st, 2017 Over the past month Van Smith has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Kade Stenson League. He proved all that and now he's been named July's Pitcher of the Month. The rookie for the Bristol City Smugglers posted 4-1 mark and a 1.89 ERA. In 5 starts he tossed 38 innings, permitted 26 hits and fanned 29 batters. This year Smith has fashioned a 8-7 mark, 4.07 ERA and pitched 121.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .235 against him and he has logged 101 strikeouts. |
