3B Silas Elder Hurt

Earlier today, Durham third baseman Silas Elder had to leave the game against Fort Worth because of an injury. Team officials are reporting that he has a torn anterior cruciate ligament and will miss 9-10 months of play. Elder was hurt running the bases and was unable to continue playing. He will be evaluated this afternoon by team physicians.
This season Elder has hit at a .273 clip with 21 RBIs, 6 home runs and 17 runs scored. He has played in 35 games.
