Davis Wins KSL Best Player Award Monday, August 4th, 2014 No single hit brought Oliver Davis Player of the Week honors -- the Albuquerque Cacti left fielder corralled the award with a consistent approach in every at-bat. "Hitting is all about discipline," said Davis. "When you lose focus, start to lunge at the ball and swing too agressively... swinging at a lot of bad pitches... that's when your average starts to drop and you wind up fighting for playing time. You're most successful when you concentrate on the ball and make 'em throw strikes." Concentrate he did. Davis stroked 11 hits in 20 at-bats while cranking out 2 home runs, 4 RBIs and 8 runs scored. Davis is batting at a .301 pace this season, picking up 25 hits in 83 at-bats with 4 home runs, 10 RBIs and 16 runs scored. |
