Ríos Smacks 5 Hits for Communists Friday, July 4th, 2014 Miguel Ríos told the press after his 5-hit day, "Every batter wants to have a quality at-bat every time he steps up to the plate. He wants to hit the ball hard." Well, that's just what Ríos of the Leningrad Communists did against the Birmingham Bobcats. He went to the plate 5 times and 5 times he delivered base hits, much to the chagrin of the Bobcats, who suffered a 13-4 defeat. "Not much that I can say," offered the losing manager, "he just hammered the heck out of us." Miguel Ríos singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th and singled in the 8th. Looking at his present stats, Ríos has compiled a .364 batting average in 11 games with a .396 on-base percentage, while hitting no home runs and driving in 11 runs. |
