Republic Martínez Down with Injury Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 Juan Martínez had to leave the Republic game against Seattle after suffering a stretched elbow ligament while throwing a pitch. He will be out of the lineup at least 11 months. He told reporters, "I just felt a sharp pain when it happened. I knew there was something wrong." This season Martínez has chalked up a 12.91 ERA while ringing up 1 save with no wins and 1 loss. He has made 30 relief appearances, pitching 30.2 innings, giving up 53 hits, and holding opponents to a .387 batting average. Martínez has also recorded 16 strikeouts and allowed 46 walks. |
