Thornton Sidelined for 8-9 Months
Tuesday, June 19th, 2012
The Montreal Bandits were dealt a severe blow when Gordon Thornton was hurt running the bases recently in a game against the San Diego Tomcats. After the game, the team trainer reported Thornton might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 30-year-old center fielder out for the rest of the season with a broken bone in the elbow. They indicated it would take Thornton at least 8-9 months to heal.

This year Thornton has collected a .284 batting average to date with 78 hits in 275 at-bats, 37 RBIs, 5 home runs and scored 45 times. He has played in 70 games.
