Ridin' High: Duncan Hits for Cycle
Monday, September 18th, 2017
"To hit for the cycle" is one of the rarest of feats in a baseball game. This occurs when a player hits a single, double, triple and home run in the same game, getting every type of hit possible. Tim Duncan grabbed a piece of baseball history today when he hit for the cycle. Duncan went 4 for 5 with 4 runs batted in and 2 runs scored against Kansas City, leading the San Francisco Earthquakes to a 9-5 win at Debris Field.
"I felt comfortable at the plate in a way I haven't felt all season," Duncan said after the game. "It was like they were throwing beach balls at me. The ball seemed that big to me. And it just floated in."
Tim Duncan flied out in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a three-run home run off John Bryan in the 5th, tripled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 9th.
So far this year in 135 games Duncan is hitting .276 with 35 home runs, 110 RBIs and 89 runs scored.
