Strained PCL Shelves Smith for Next 3 Weeks
Sunday, August 6th, 2017
What was originally thought to be a minor injury has turned into a major headache for Brian Smith and the Washington. Smith suffered the injury while out for a morning run. "All I felt at the time was a little pull and some soreness," said the Washington reliever. "Then it gradually became more painful." An MRI revealed that Smith has a strained posterior cruciate ligament, which will keep him out of action for about 3 weeks. "We'll just have to make do without him and hope he's back with the team soon," said manager Porter Parker. Asked if the team is exploring replacement options for Smith, Parker said, "We'll re-evaluate the situation in 3 weeks, but I really doubt we'll need to worry past that point."
