Earlier today, South Carolina left fielder Stephen Jackson had to leave the game against Boston because of an injury. Team officials are reporting that he has a fractured finger and will miss 5 weeks of play. Jackson was hurt running the bases and was unable to continue playing. He will be evaluated this afternoon by team physicians.

This season Jackson is swinging the bat at a .367 rate with 98 hits in 267 at-bats. To date he has hit 13 home runs, scored 55 runs and driven in 41.
