Nelson Tops Thurman Munson League Pitchers Saturday, November 12th, 2016 He's in the early phase of his career, but this past season Jake Nelson performed like a veteran on the hill for the Eureka Hornets and walked away with the Thurman Munson League Cy Young Award in the process. The 22-year-old Hornets star fashioned a 19-4 won-loss record in 2016 with a 2.41 ERA. In 212.2 innings of work and 33 starts, Nelson struck out 221 while giving up 160 hits and 52 walks. He held opposing batters to a .206 average. |
