Shelton Extends Hit Streak to 20 Games Sunday, May 15th, 2016 He did it again! Anthony Shelton got another hit and ran his hitting streak to 20. He collected 1 hit in 4 at-bats, but that wasn't enough to win the game. His Maple Marauders were defeated 8-3 at St. Sebastian's Cathedral by the Boston Cardinals. During the recent streak, the 30-year-old left fielder has remained quiet, sidestepping questions about it with ease. Whether for superstitious reasons or simply in an effort to avoid the spotlight, Shelton preferred to shower praise on his team. He told reporters in the clubhouse after the loss, "We have a better ballclub than we showed today." "It's amazing to watch him hit right now, but I don't think anybody's really mentioning it," one of his teammates said. "So, we're trying to kind of keep that quiet... don't want to jinx him." Anthony Shelton grounded out in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th and grounded out in the 7th. Currently Shelton has 5 home runs and a .223 batting average. |
