Escobar Hits in 20 Consecutive Games Saturday, May 7th, 2016 And the hits just keep on coming -- especially off the red-hot bat of José Escobar. The Cardinals first baseman got 2 hits in 4 at-bats in today's 4-2 triumph over the Carolina Crush at St. Sebastian's Cathedral. Escobar has now hit safely in his last 20 games. Asked by the press, how it feels to go through something like this, he replied, "the longer it goes on, the more the pressure intensifies. The press coverage can get relentless at times. I wish I could just go out and play the game without all this distraction, but I know that's not going to happen. I know I will just have to grin and bear it."
