Bailey 5-5 for Texas Saturday, July 11th, 2015 It wasn't poetic justice. Victor Bailey of the Gunners had a terrific 5-hit game today, really socking it to the Montreal Bandits, but his team didn't win the game. In the clubhouse after the 5-4 loss, he moaned to the press, "Hey, I don't want to sound ungrateful, but something is missing here. When you have a great game you should win the game, too." And he definitely had an unforgettable day in the batter's box, ripping out 5 hits in 5 at-bats. The manager for the Gunners sympathized with his right fielder and told BNN reporters after the game, "Victor played a whale of a game, but sometimes individual brilliance is not enough to win... baseball is a team sport... it takes more than just one player to win a game." Victor Bailey doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th and hit an RBI single in the 8th. Bailey is currently hitting at a .350 pace with 1 home run, 26 RBIs and has scored 45 times. |
