Escobar Cracks 3 HRs for Boston
Monday, June 22nd, 2015
If you were sitting in the bleachers and brought your glove to the Cardinals-Bombers game, there was a good chance you'd catch one of the three home runs hit by José Escobar. The Cardinals first baseman repeatedly sent eager fans scurrying to catch a souvenir and led Boston to a 6-4 win over South Carolina.
"Hey, the three homers were great, but I'm just trying to help my ballclub... not thinkin' about home runs. I'm just thinkin' about winning ballgames. When you think about home runs, you very seldom get 'em," he philosophized in the postgame press conference.
Escobar was 3-4 on the day with 4 runs batted in.
José Escobar hit a two-run home run off Cecil Gibbons in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Cecil Gibbons in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Cecil Gibbons in the 5th, walked in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
Escobar is hitting .274 for the season with 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and 35 runs scored. He has 79 hits in 288 at-bats and played in 70 games.
