Major Injury Threatens Mendes's Career Wednesday, July 23rd, 2014 From the moment it happened, it was clear that Laurent Mendes's injury was serious. In today's contest against Dallas the Capitalists second baseman suffered a concussion while colliding with a player at a base. Mendes was carted off the field in a stretcher. The initial diagnosis was bad and the follow-up assessment at the hospital was even more grim: Mendes's career is over.
