Cruz's 21-Game Hit Streak Ends
Friday, July 4th, 2014
The hitting streak that Kansas City first baseman Jesús Cruz had going was ended today by the Jacksonville Jacks. Cruz, who had hits in his previous 21 games, was stymied today, but the rest of his team picked him up, earning the Tornadoes a 9-3 victory at Debris Field. He was hitless in 3 at-bats.

"Hitting streaks come and go. One good thing came out of it, however, it perked up my batting average a little bit, but did put a little pressure on me. It's hard to be natural at the plate with the streak always in the back of your mind. If it had to end, I'm glad it was in a win."

Cruz is hitting at a .324 mark this season. His stats show 22 home runs, 62 RBIs and 63 runs scored. He has played 80 games for the Tornadoes.
