Powers Put in Cooler, Hitless Against Boston
Sunday, June 29th, 2014
Marauders right fielder Frank Powers went 0-for-4 today in Maple's 6-3 triumph over the Boston Cardinals, snapping his 27-game hitting streak.

Powers spoke to BNN after the game and said, "I knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later. I just would have preferred later."

When he made an out in his last chance at bat, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout.

The Cardinals manager shrugged off the streak. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," he said. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here."

This season Powers is swinging the bat at a .348 pace. He has hit 6 home runs and scored 52 times, while driving in 27. His on-base percentage is .396 and he has played in 73 games.
