 | PL's #1 Starter is Tanaka Saturday, September 1st, 2012 Yujiro Tanaka was a long shot to make the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters this year, especially being a 36-year-old rookie. Now the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham hurler has parlayed a 3-0 record into the Pacific League Pitcher of the Month award. In August, he chalked up 36 strikeouts in 30.2 innings and compiled a 0.59 ERA. So far this year Tanaka has made 23 starts, tossed 139.1 innings, struck out 165 batters and walked 37. His record is 8-3 with a 3.36 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .233 batting average. |   |
