 | Central League Selects Best Performer Monday, August 22nd, 2016 In the twilight of his career, 35-year-old Toshinobu Kimura of Tokyo Yakult recaptured some of the old magic last week and came away with the Central League Player of the Week Award.
"I've been playing since I was a kid," Kimura told reporters, "but you're never too old to feel the thrill of success."
Kimura outpaced the rest of the league's hitters last week, reeling off 5 hits in 9 at-bats, 1 home run, and 4 RBIs to stake his claim to the award.
For the season Kimura has hit .217 with 5 home runs and 27 RBIs. He has played in 41 games and scored 12 times. |   |
