Just ask Seiichi Takata, who put together a stellar month out of the pen. The Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks reliever, 35, kept the opposition off balance all month as he held them to a .163 average and walked away with the Pacific League Pitcher of the Month award for July. Takata posted a 4-1 mark and a 1.42 ERA in 9 relief appearances. In 12.2 innings, he had no saves, 9 strikeouts, and 8 walks. In 46 relief appearances this season, Takata has no saves.
