 | Sakei Bags PL Best Player Award Monday, September 29th, 2014 24-year-old Totoya Sakei made a few Tohoku Rakuten headlines during this past week as the rookie third baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Pacific League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 5 hits in 6 at-bats to put up a .833 average. Sakei collected 1 home run, 3 RBIs and scored 4 runs. Currently Sakei is batting .312 with 18 home runs and 74 RBIs. |   |
