 | PL Player of the Week Chosen Monday, June 16th, 2014 24-year-old Totoya Sakei made a few Tohoku Rakuten headlines during this past week as the rookie third baseman proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Pacific League officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 10 hits in 16 at-bats to put up a .625 average. Sakei collected 2 home runs, 9 RBIs and scored 6 runs. This year Sakei is batting .306 with 12 home runs and 50 RBIs. |   |
