 | Thornton Rips LSU for 5 Hits Tuesday, May 10th, 2016 Lester Thornton exploded for a barrage of base hits today at South Paris College Grounds. The TCU right fielder had a field day against the LSU Tigers, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the record book.
"It's a shame that we lost the game. It's really hard to enjoy what I did today," he said, lamenting the 11-10 loss. "You would think 5 hits would do it."
Asked about his great day, he replied, "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple. I focus just to see the ball and try to get a good pitch."
Well, Thornton must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat.
Lester Thornton singled in the 1st, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit a two-run home run off Pedro Espinoza in the 7th, singled in the 9th and struck out in the 11th.
So far this year Thornton is batting .319 with 6 home runs, 21 RBIs and 32 runs scored. | |
