 | Clarke Hitless, Stopped by Golden Bears Wednesday, May 21st, 2014 For 25 straight games, Brad Clarke tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 21-year-old Ole Miss first baseman can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the California Golden Bears. They held him hitless in 4 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 25. The streak ended on one good note, however, Ole Miss won the game, beating the Golden Bears 1-0. But Clarke acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again." For the year Clarke is batting .317 with 9 home runs, 37 RBIs and 28 runs scored. |   |
