 | AHL's Best Player, Smith of Columbia Monday, August 6th, 2012 So far in his young career, Jim Smith has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the August Herrman League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 18-year-old Columbia 08's right fielder hit at a torrid .667 clip as he collected 6 hits in 9 at-bats, 2 home runs, 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored. Thus far this season in 57 games Smith is batting .235 with 5 home runs, 19 RBIs and 15 runs scored. He has 43 hits in 183 at-bats. |   |
