 | Clay Picked as August's Pitcher of the Month Thursday, September 1st, 2016 There's something about a young rookie winning the Buck O'Neil League Pitcher of the Month trophy that sends shock waves through the league. Such is the case with George Clay, a 22-year-old starter for the Winfield Warriors. In August, he topped off the month with a 4-0 mark and 2.62 ERA in 5 starts, tossed 34.1 innings, fanned 54 and held opposing teams to a .189 average. Over the season Clay has thrown 130.1 innings and dished out 192 strikeouts with a 15-3 mark and a 3.31 ERA. |   |
