Francisco Mejía Out for 8 Months
Monday, August 15th, 2016
Francisco Mejía at first refused to leave today's Houston-Whitewater game after he suffered a broken kneecap while making a defensive play. But his manager convinced him not to be foolish. "I want to be on the field," the feisty Whitewater center fielder said. "I'll play through just about anything." Given time to reflect on the situation, he knew it was in his best interest to get immediate treatment. The injury is expected to keep Mejía out of action for 8 months.

This year Mejía is hitting .205 with 51 hits, 4 home runs, 25 RBIs and has scored 27 runs.
