Commenting after the game to the press, the elated Takahashi explained, "I tell you what, I was so shocked because I didn't think the last ball had enough to get out. I thought it was just going to be a long out."
For the day the Riverside second baseman went 3-3 against Newark with 3 RBIs and 4 runs scored in a brilliant display of power hitting.
Tetsui Takahashi hit a solo-shot off Woody Owen in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Woody Owen in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Caden Anderson in the 7th and walked in the 8th.
