 | Whitecaps Starter Wins ACL Pitching Award Wednesday, June 1st, 2016 Over the past month Hideki Sakaguchi has turned quite a few heads. He's young, talented and able to pitch with the established arms in the Alexander Cartwright League. He proved all that and now he's been named May's Pitcher of the Month. The rookie for the Grand Haven Whitecaps posted 5-0 mark and a 2.72 ERA. In 6 starts he tossed 36.1 innings, permitted 28 hits and fanned 30 batters. This year in 11 starts, Sakaguchi has recorded 7 wins and absorbed 1 loss. He has pitched 69 innings, allowed 55 hits, struck out 64 and has a 2.48 ERA. |   |
