 | Joplin's Ortíz Down with Injury Monday, June 25th, 2012 Earlier today, Joplin reliever Miguel Ortíz had to leave the game against Springfield because of an injury. Team officials are reporting that he has a stretched elbow ligament and will miss 9 months of play. Ortíz was hurt throwing a pitch and was unable to continue playing. He will be evaluated this afternoon by team physicians. So far this year Ortíz has made 1 relief appearance with no saves, thrown 94.2 innings and struck out 59 with a 3-9 record. |   |
