 | Ellis on Fire, 5-6 Against Astoria Tuesday, August 30th, 2016 The Coal Miners whipped the Argonauts 16-9 at Golden Fleece Park and Steve Ellis had a big hand in the win. The Coal Miners catcher came to the plate 6 times and collected 5 hits. It was a good day for Ellis and a tough day for Astoria. "I just go up there and whale away and hope it hits the barrel of the bat," he said. "There really isn't any plan." Plan or not, Ellis delivered today -- 5-6 is outstanding in any league. Steve Ellis hit a two-run double in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, hit a two-run single in the 6th, doubled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This year Ellis is hitting .251 with 13 home runs and 60 RBIs in 117 games played. He also boasts an OBP of .298 with 30 walks and 55 runs scored. |   |
