 | Lawrence Batters Detroit for 5 Hits Tuesday, April 10th, 2012 It was a big day with the bat for Howard Lawrence of the Joplin Fireballs at The Death Star as he bashed out hit after hit after hit to defeat Detroit 6-1. After the game he said, "Guys, it's just one game in a long season. I hit it hard and found some holes today. 5 hits in 5 tries. But my hits are not the big thing in the game. The victory is the important thing. That's the story." At the end of the game Lawrence had collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a small mention in the record book. He was happy. He had a big day with the bat. And the Fireballs had won. Howard Lawrence doubled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 6th, hit a solo-shot off Jim Unknown in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. So far this season Lawrence has gotten 11 hits in 29 at-bats for a .379 batting average with 3 home runs. His stats include 7 RBIs and 6 runs scored. He has played in 9 games. |   |
