"He really did a job on us," said the St. John manager. "He had good command of his pitches. He changed speeds well and pretty much confused us. We never could zero in on him, but he certainly zeroed in on us."
Matthews said, "Everything was working for me. Throwing my breaking stuff over the plate was big."
He finished the game with 8 strikeouts and 2 walks in a solid outing.
