 | Earthquakes Swap Gonzáles to Republic for Mendoza Friday, July 27th, 2012 Several Earthquakes and Republic players soon will have to start shopping for a new home. It was announced today that the two teams came to agreement on a trade. San Francisco will get 36-year-old right fielder Roberto Mendoza and So Cal will pick up 17-year-old minor league right fielder José Gonzáles in return. "I'm not surprised by the news," one of the players told reporters, "It's part of the business and I understand that. I am looking forward to playing for the Earthquakes." This year Mendoza is hitting .275 with 7 home runs. |   |
