 | Hennessey Finally Fails, Streak Ends at 25 Wednesday, September 7th, 2016 For 25 straight games, Bob Hennessey tried to ignore his hitting streak. "But you guys in the media wouldn't let me." The 24-year-old Eureka third baseman can forget about it now -- it's over! -- courtesy of the Las Vegas Jokers. They held him hitless in 4 at-bats and snapped his consecutive-game hitting string at 25. The streak ended on one good note, however, Eureka won the game, beating the Jokers 9-2. But Hennessey acknowledged that it meant something to him. "It was special," he said, "but I think other people make a bigger deal out of it than I do, or the players do. But that's what you're supposed to do; go out and hit the ball and try and score runs. It was a cool deal. It's over now. Let's try to start it all over again." For the year Hennessey is batting .355 with 12 home runs. |   |
