José Escobar, the Boston Cardinals 25-year-old first baseman, put himself in the spotlight last week making him the clear-cut choice for Thurman Munson League Player of the Week honors. He ripped 12 hits in 30 at-bats, compiling a .400 average with 2 home runs and 10 RBIs. This year Escobar is hitting .318 with 130 hits, 29 home runs, 85 RBIs and has scored 60 runs. |   |
