 | McCoy on Fire: 5-6 for Jacksonville Friday, July 1st, 2016 Ernie McCoy exploded for a barrage of base hits today at Debris Field. The Jacksonville third baseman had a field day in the 16-4 triumph over the Kansas City Tornadoes, finishing with a 5-6 day and a spot in the league record book. "My hitting philosophy is pretty simple," he said. "I focus on just seeing the ball and I try to get a good pitch." Well, McCoy must have focused at least 5 times and apparently got some good pitches, too. It was one of his best days ever with the bat. Ernie McCoy singled in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, hit a two-run triple in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, singled in the 8th and hit an RBI single in the 9th. This season McCoy is batting .259 with 83 hits, 1 home run, 20 RBIs, .323 OBP and has scored 41 runs. |   |
