 | Ortíz Will Sit Out 4 Games, Suspended by League Wednesday, March 23rd, 2016 Miguel Angel Ortíz's disrobing act in yesterday's loss to the Dallas Texans at Metroplex Park cost him a 4-game suspension. The league office informed the San Diego Hops today that their first baseman would be suspended for "his poor conduct and unacceptable behavior that made a farce out of the game." After being called out on strikes, Ortíz was ejected by the home plate umpire after a heated and animated discussion. In protest for the ejection, he proceeded to throw his bat down, take off his batting gloves, cap, shirt, socks and shoes and left them at home plate, refusing to pick them up. Asked about the suspension, Ortíz sheepishly told reporters, "I did a stupid and embarrassing thing. Let's just leave it at that." |   |
