So Cal whipped Ann Arbor 17-6 and Alfredo Yánez displayed a hot bat, enjoying an outstanding 5-hit day at Staples Field @ The Rose Bowl. "Some days, lady luck is on your side," he modestly told BNN reporters after the game. His manager told the beat writers otherwise, "His hitting wasn't luck today. It's his solid approach to hitting. Alfredo is focused, patient and he hits to all fields. The more solid at-bats you put together, the more success you're going to have." The 27-year-old left fielder for the Republic collected 5 hits in 6 at-bats to get his name in the record book. Alfredo Yánez hit a three-run home run off Michael Bryan in the 1st, singled in the 2nd, singled in the 3rd, grounded out in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Darryl Bradshaw in the 7th and hit a two-run double in the 8th. In 143 games this year Yánez has posted a .305 average and put up these numbers: 30 home runs, 107 RBIs and 85 runs scored. |   |
